You don’t make a photograph just with a camera. You bring to the act of photography all the pictures you have seen, the books you have read, the music you have heard, the people you have loved” -  Ansel Adam

A bit about me

I’m a 37 year old Dad to Eve, Husband to Cara, GIS Developer (Map/Geography stuff) in my day job and I’m also a photographer! I’m based in Troon, Ayrshire but my photography projects take me all over the UK. Despite my love of science and all things logical, my real passions lie in the arts and photography is where I let out my creative side.

I have been involved heavily in photography for over 19 years now, but I have always been interested in photographs since I was young. My Dad had a Canon SLR and I loved the end results after using it.  17 years ago, I purchased my own Canon 400D and since that point I haven’t been able to put the camera down. I am completely self taught; countless hours have been spent studying photography in my own time through books, magazines, Podcasts and most importantly, getting out there and practising. This has allowed me to develop my own style without external influence bringing a unique, personal touch to my photography.

Experience

Since establishing my business 10 years ago, I've captured over 300 weddings across a variety of wedding venues throughout the UK and a large number of portrait sessions and events. My services can be booked as an individual but I also work alongside other photographers and photography students should you require more than one for your event or project. I specialise in landscape and urban photography; my work has been featured on the BBC, in Glasgow University’s Calendar (2008) and on their website. I have also photographed many bands playing live, family shoots, new born shots, sporting events and many other subjects throughout my photography experience to date.

Hobbies, interests & personality

I’m very outgoing and love to have fun, which comes across in my photography. Creating images that people will look back on to remember their experiences in years to come is what I find to be the most rewarding part of being a photographer.

In my spare time, I enjoy listening to an eclectic mix of music, playing guitar and singing, a variety of sports (mainly snowboarding and badminton) and spending time with family and friends.
